Besides these, several innovative features were added:
- Ability to mix together, in real time and on the same screen, centrally broadcasted contents, (e.g. advertising), local contents (e.g., information to the public) and analog video (e.g., cable TV or video from surveillance cameras);
- Ability to manage geographically segmented contents, whenever the network includes screens installed in vehicles and supported by OutMobil players connected to GPS. I.e., the contents change depending or the vehicle's position.
- Ability to have external stimuli (presence sensors, 3D recognition systems, mobile phones, etc.) alter the normal flow of content, which effectively translates into an interactivity of screens. Although there are systems for interactive displays, they are usually "hard-coded" stand-alone systems (like multimedia kiosks), not adequate for use in a network. The innovation behind OuterActiv technology lets anyone remotely configure which stimuli will trigger a response and what the response to each stimulus will be. I.e., the system manager can effectively change the behavior of any given terminal at any given time.
- Ability to remotely view the contents of any screen, from the central (since the screens can also display content which is inserted locally, it becomes necessary to view, from the management center, the actual image presented on each screen);
- Possibility of linking each content - ad, entertaining or informative video - with commands sent to external devices. This feature allows the software to support the Sensory Marketing effects generator OutElements.
- The system is 100% configurable by users.
